Western Sicily – Tour Film and Guest Interviews for Untold Italy

From 15 to 21 October 2023, Yishyene and I joined Untold Italy’s Western Sicily tour: Palermo, the seaside town of Castellammare del Golfo, the salt pans near Marsala, and Erice, a medieval town on top of a mountain.

The salt pans were the most interesting place to film: shallow pools of sea water drying in the sun, and the work of taking the salt out of them. Erice was the opposite, a stone town high above the coast.

Alongside the tour film, I filmed short interviews with guests, so future travellers can hear about the tour from people who have done it. As on every Untold Italy tour, we travelled as part of the group and kept the camera out of the way, so nobody’s holiday felt smaller because we were filming. I delivered the tour film in chapters, plus a guest interview film. Six months later, we were back in Italy for Bologna, Modena and Parma.
